Our sand bags meet all government specifications and feature a superior 1600 hour UV factor. By using sandbags with UV exposure, you ensure they’re functional longer and withstand weathering. We sell non-biodegradable woven polypropylene sand bags that can be reused multiple times if needed. Burlap can be used as an alternative material, but since it’s biodegradable, burlap sand bags won’t work for long term flood control. When filling sand bags, it’s important to use quality materials. Using gravel or rocky soil is not recommended, as these materials are more permeable, allowing more water to seep through into the bag. A fine sand or sandy soil is best and will ensure that bags can be stacked to form a water-tight flood control barrier. Sand bags should only be filled to half their capacity; this ensures they’ll be easily stacked and won’t split and/or break under their own weight.
