One of the leading causes of industrial fires is the improper storage and handling of flammable liquids. The Justrite Standard Sure-Grip® EX Flammable Safety Cabinet with Self-Close Doors (model 894520) is designed to safely store flammable liquids. Its exterior dimensions are 65 height x 43 width x 18 In. depth (1651 height x 1092 width x 457 mm depth). These yellow cabinets can store 45 gallon (170 l) of flammable liquids. This model is constructed with a sturdy 18-gauge (1 mm) thick steel double-wall, with 1.5 In. (38 mm) of insulating air space for fire resistance. The fully welded, not riveted, construction holds the squareness of the unit for a longer life and offers greater protection in a fire since air gaps are reduced. High-performance, self-closing doors open to 140 degrees. A patented, concealed self-close mechanism provides obstruction-free access to shelf space. The doors self-index to guarantee they will close in tight sequence. Continuous piano hinges ensure the doors close smoothly every time. When used properly as designed, safety cabinets with self-closing doors shut automatically in case of a fire. The self-closing doors, under tension, are held open by using fusible links. Under fire conditions, when the ambient temperature reaches 165 F (74 C), the links melt and the safety cabinet’s self-closing doors automatically swing shut. The self-latching system engages with three stainless steel bullet-slams located at the top, bottom, and center locations of the door.
